Mrs Tjaša Klemenčič, school librarian

1.What was your first job?

I’ve been here, at this school, since the start.

2. When did you start working here?

Well, I believe the school opened on 1st September in 1981.

3. What’s your favourite book?

Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. It was written for kids, but many aspects of the book relate to adult life.

4. What’s your favourite movie?

A Room with a View.

5. Which do you prefer – books or movies?

(takes a long break) I really can’t decide. Both, I guess.

6. If you could be a character from a book, which one would you be and why.

I would be Pippi Longstocking. She is strong, clever, free…

7. Imagine you were going on a trip around the globe and you got the opportunity to take three authors with you. Who would you take?

Dostojevski, Kundera, Umberto Eco.

8. Have you ever written a story?

I have made them up for my grandchildren, but no, I’ve never written one. Looking back now, at the times when I and my grandchildren would make up incredible stories, I regret we didn’t write a single one of them.

9. Do you ever go to the theatre?

I do sometimes. I’m not a big fan though. But the theatre has changed a lot since I first watched a play. In a positive way, of course. Maybe I should go there more often.

10. What advice would you give to students that don’t like to read books?

They should grab a book and read the first five pages. If they don’t like it, they can just borrow a new one. If they give the book a chance, the book will give them a chance too.
